We are so excited to welcome our new Water Committee Vice Chair, Matt Barrett, P.E.! Matt is the San Jacinto River Authority’s Water Resources and Flood Management Division Manager. After working as a summer intern for SJRA, he started full time with the Authority upon graduating from Texas A&M in December 2009.
Over the past 15 years he has performed a variety of roles with the Authority in each of its operating divisions. His current role is focused, among other things, on the development of flood mitigation partnerships and projects in the San Jacinto River Basin, as well as future water supply planning for the region.
Matt participated in the subcommittee for the first-ever NHA Strategic Flood Reduction Priorities document, to be debuted in September of this year. He is a Professional Engineer and has been licensed in the State of Texas since 2014. He is also a member of the San Jacinto Regional Flood Planning Group Executive Committee, a group that recently received the NHA Environmental Impact Award for their efforts in preparing a regional flood plan that will be incorporated into the Texas State Flood Plan.
