NHA has officially unveiled the inaugural Strategic Flood Reduction Priorities (SFRP) document with a wonderful evening reception at the East Aldine Management District Ampitheatre. We are so proud to share this project with you all, which has been an almost 2-year labor of love. The SFRP outlines NHA’s priorities when it comes to flooding matters and describes project specifics and priorities by watershed and within the NHA service area.
This first iteration was co-chaired by Alan Black, Vice President, Quiddity, Chuck Wolff, Principal/Vice President, Freese & Nichols, and Mike Reedy, San Jacinto River Authority. Together with our Association President and the subcommittee, Marlisa Briggs, they did a fantastic job of meeting with more than 20 agencies, cities, precincts, and organizations. While many projects, plans and priorities were identified and considered through the process, these were selected and found to have the top positive impact (upon completion) in several different areas including mobility, safety, economic development, and many more.
This Strategic Flood Reduction Priorities document is intended to be a living document (updated digitally on our site) and will be used for advocacy in meetings with legislators, funding agencies, and public officials for years to come.
