NHA Environment Committee Tours Memorial Land Bridge
Uploaded by North Houston on 2024-04-15.
Memorial Park Conservancy has done an amazing job with their master plan and the creation of the Memorial Park Land Bridge. Our NHA Environment Committee had the pleasure of touring Memorial Park the afternoon of April 4th, 2024. The group got to see up close, all of the conservation and creativity that went into revitalizing the 1,500 acre park.
The Memorial Park Land Bridge is a nearly 100-acre project that reunites the north and south sides of the Park by creating a land bridge over busy Memorial Drive.
“The prairie restoration, which adjoins the Land Bridge, re-introduces endangered native Gulf Coast prairie and additional wetlands to areas north and south of Memorial Drive. A new network of trails will provide safe crossing for people and wildlife. Both prairie and wetlands serve important habitat and stormwater management functions and are a key part of the Park’s ecological restoration to ensure resiliency.”
Thank you to our tour guide, Courtney Hall with Memorial Park Conservancy, and to all who could join us for such a fun field trip!
