NHA’s Executive Director, Marlisa Briggs, testified at the March 11 Hearing of the Senate Committee on Water & Rural Affairs in support of Sen. Brandon Creighton’s SB 7, which relates to flood control planning and the funding of flood planning, mitigation and infrastructure projects.
The week prior, she attended the House Committee on Natural Resources in support of State Rep. Phelan’s HB 478, a similar bill to SB 7. These bills provide state flood control assistance, on both sides – flood mitigation and disaster recovery needs.
SB 7 was unanimously passed by the Senate and is now in the House’s Natural Resources Committee (as of 3/28.19). Click here for an article that summarizes the three bills.
