The North Houston Association (NHA) announced new leadership and honored outgoing board members and officers at the November Annual Membership Luncheon, featuring Houston Airport System CEO Jim Szczesniak as the keynote speaker.

Board Chair Ed Shackelford, P.E., Director of Utility Operations, San Jacinto River Authority, was gifted a commemorative gavel during the program as a token of appreciation for all the work accomplished during his three year term.

“The last three years have been a time of growth at the Association, and Ed was the right person to lead us,” said Marlisa Briggs, NHA President. “He navigated us through creating new policies and guidelines, including the addition of term limits so there is more opportunity for members to lead, beginning with committee leadership and advancing to board positions.”

Shackelford will now serve as Immediate Past Chair, and Kim Sachtleben, P.E., Vice-President, Business Development, Pape-Dawson Engineers, will step into the role of Board Chair for a two-year term.

“I’m excited to serve as NHA’s first female board chair,” said Sachtleben. “I’ve served on the board for seven years, and I look forward to working with volunteers and staff to bring our members robust programming and advocacy work.”

At the luncheon, Dan Kolkhorst, P.E., Vice President – Land Development, Howard Hughes Corporation, was installed as vice chair of the organization.

“Howard Hughes and The Woodlands has been involved in the Association’s leadership since the organization’s inception. I look forward to continuing our legacy as the north Houston region’s resource for development and infrastructure,” said Kolkhorst.

In addition to new chair and vice chair positions, five new members were added to the North Houston Association’s board of directors: Alan Black, P.E., Quiddity Engineering; Richard Cantu, East Aldine District; Telfryn John, P.E., Geoscience Engineering & Testing, Inc.; Michael Keck, P.E., LJA Engineering and Derron Vincik, P.E., LEED AP, PGAL.
