[Excerpt of Campaign Email Template]

Between now and April 16, we must do everything in our power to spread the word about the importance of the Census and how it will affect the business community.

On a grand scale, the Census will help Harris County officials determine the allocation of government funding.  An accurate 2010 Census count might even add a member of congress from our area and more representation in Austin.  At the local level, an accurate Census count will increase funding for transportation and infrastructure, and even serve as a guide for current and future job training centers, child-care and community centers, hospitals, schools and other service facilities.  It will also boost economic development by providing vital information to businesses that are making critical decisions.

As part of my undertaking, I am asking you to join me in educating our community about why the 2010 Census is crucial to our residents and the future of our communities.

Below are a few suggestions you can implement within your circle to spread the message about the importance of the Census.

  • Include a link to the Harris County Census website and blog on your website
  • Include a Census-specific hold message for your phone
  • Use the Harris County Census logo in the signature of your outgoing email messages
  • Include a message about the 2010 Census in your next eBlast or newsletter
  • Promote Harris County’s 2010 Census campaign through your Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • Include www.PowerinNumbersHarrisCounty.com on receipts
  • Include a Harris County Census flyer alongside payroll checks
  • Have your company’s CEO craft a phone message, email or written letter about the Census
  • Incorporate a message or talking point about the Census into upcoming speeches and appearances
  • Post posters or flyers in your business.

Sharing information has never been easier!  Please be sure to become a fan of the Harris County Census Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for fast facts about the Census and what the County is doing to ensure our residents count.

Please help me in spreading the word about how important an accurate Census count to the businesses throughout Harris County.  Together, we can prove that there is Power in Numbers!
